5th Street

The 1906 Sanborn Fire Insurance Map overlays a modern Google aerial image of 5th Street between Chestnut and Broadway. The Brennan House is highlighted with a red box. As you can see, the neighborhood has drastically changed. Many of the historic buildings have been demolished and replaced with parking lots or large industrial buildings. The southern half of the block next to the Brennan House is now a large Kindred Healthcare Administrative Office. The defunct orphan’s home across the street is now the large parking lot for the Courier-Journal building to the south.
